Allen Schery

Allen Schery has played many roles in his life. Initially, he was trained as an Anthropologist and Archeologist. This led to his living in several different cultures along with excavating ruins including the Maya site of Chichen Itza in Yucatan, Mexico. This eventually led to the writing of his seminal study "The Dragon's Breath-The Human Experience" which explains what it means to be a human being in any time, place, or culture. Allen also spent a fair amount of time designing several museums including the award-winning Corvette Americana Museum in Cooperstown, New York selected as one of the ten best museums in New York State. He wrote the book "Corvette Americana-A Cultural Time Tunnel which explains how an Anthropologist would design a car museum. His efforts did not go unnoticed as he was summoned to the executive mansion in Albany, New York in 1995 and was given an award for one of the ten best museums in New York State presented by Libby Pataki wife of then Governor of New York George Pataki. The other winners included the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim, Kodak, and Corning museums.

Allen grew up in the area of Ebbets Field and began collecting Dodger Memorabilia in 1952 and never stopped. In 1999 the Dodgers brought Allen from Cooperstown to Los Angeles to work on a Dodger Experience Museum. Many of his 250,000 Dodger Artifacts were put on display. Due to his long-time standing connection to Dodger lore Allen researched and wrote "The Boys of Spring-the Birth of the Dodgers" finally putting to rest who started the Dodger Baseball team in 1883. Allen also designed the Rose Bowl Millenium Museum in Pasadena at the turn of the century.
